Raku Irises

This 10 tile Iris panel is hand made, the plants and flowers growing in hedgerows and forests inspired the design and colours.

The design of the irises are hand painted and drawn with liquid latex onto hand made tiles and the colours are painted on bright, Raku glaze is applied and latex removed leaving a bare clay Iris design. The tiles are then fired in a Raku kiln, removed at heat and smoked in a sawdust pit leaving a stunning Iris design with beautiful blues and green penetrating the glaze. The Raku glaze tones down the colour to give a deeper colour. This would be a stunning compliment to any fireplace or bathroom.

Each tile size is 14cm x14cm.
Whole panel size is 70cm H x 28cm L, pregrouting.
